Robert Boova, M.D., received his Doctorate of Medicine from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His surgery residency and cardiac surgery fellowship were completed at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He has a master’s degree in health care management from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Dr. Boova's areas of focus include structural heart disease, catheter-based treatment of structural heart disease, mitral valve repair, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, myocardial revascularization utilizing off-pump beating heart techniques, diseases of the thoracic aorta, surgical treatment of carcinoid heart disease, surgical treatment of endocarditis, and cardiac surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation. Additionally, Dr. Boova has extensive experience with quality metrics in cardiac surgery, evidence based cardiac care and accelerated post-operative recovery.
Dr. Boova has authored and co-authored numerous cardiac manuscripts and abstracts. He has lectured extensively and has been an invited speaker locally, nationally, and internationally. He has been an investigator and principal investigator in clinical trials, including the U.S. Pivotal Core Valve TAVR trial.
